The ranking of a website on the World Wide Web measures how a particular site is positioned compared to other sites. Before Social Media, the terms position and ranking referred primarily to the position a website had with search engines – and that is still also so. However, today, people search for products, services and information using other channels on the Net, such as Social Media platforms. As a result, the position a person´s or campny´s account with Twitter, Facebook or Google is also very relevant as Internet traffic can come from these channels. As Google (today the number 1 search engine in the Western World) has indexed accounts of Social media platforms a good ranking with a social Media platform also helps getting traffic from Google.
